About Anna

Anna Davison M.C.S.P., A.C.P.A.T cat.A, RAMP registered, B.H.S.A.I. has 25 years experience in equine treatment and rehabilitation and is passionate about her work.
She is the founder member of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Animal Therapy, and a committee member in the early days. She is also one of the longest standing Category 'A' members of ACPAT and is BHSAI qualified. Currently she is Chair of the Central regional ACPAT group.
Anna was initially inspired after having her own pony club horses treated by Chartered Physiotherapist Sarah Arkel. Subsequently she studied at Coventry Physiotherapy School, graduating in 1988. This was followed by two years basic grade rotations at Cheltenham General and Frenchay hospital, a requirement of the CSP before specialising in any field.
Anna used this opportunity to gain experience in out patient and sports injury work. This was complimented by her work for Gloucester Rugby Club, where, from 1990-1992, Anna became lead Physiotherapist for the U21's.
Over the years, Anna saw practise with Chiropractor Ronny Longford, pioneer of equine soft tissue treatment. She also studied with Sarah Arkel and started treating horses using the McTimony Chiropractic Technique.
In 1993, Anna went to Yorkshire to study with Chartered Equine Physiotherapist Janet Ellis. This resulted in Anna now predominantly using the Ellis Technique. The need for active rehabilitation following treatment has evolved in the profession, mirroring that in the human field.
Anna's ethos comes from her time in the NHS, where the need to reduce waiting lists steers physiotherapy to getting the patient well and not just rely on repeated 'quick fix' treatment. This can be achieved by thorough treatment, a good rehabilitation and owner education.
ACPAT Chartered Physiotherapist Jo Paul and Dr Hilary M. Clayton, BVMS, PhD, MRCVS have influenced the years of personal experience Anna has gained in Equine treatment and rehabilitation.
